Le Naturel Lakar 2020
Wine Details
- Type: Organic Red Wine
- Grape Varieties: Mostly Garnacha with less than 5% of other red and white varieties.
- Vineyard: A small 0.8-hectare vineyard in Lakar, Yerri Valley, planted in 1920 at 440 meters altitude on calcareous clay soil.
- Harvest: Manual, from October 7 to the end of the month.
- Winemaking: Short maceration (9 days) with minimal intervention, followed by manual devatting and light pressing. Fermented in a small concrete tank.
- Aging: 90% aged for 12 months in a 1,200-liter Austrian oak foudre, 10% in a small tank, blended before bottling.
- Production: Limited to 1,810 bottles.
- Alcohol Content: 14.5% Vol.
Tasting Notes
- Color: Deep cherry red with great depth and intensity, vibrant luminosity, and dense tears in the glass.
- Nose: Explosive red fruit evolving into mature black fruit. Creamy lactic tones and notes of chocolate, vanilla, and fresh scrubland aromas, creating a complex and mineral profile.
- Palate: Fresh and fruity attack with lively acidity. Dense and structured with a balanced, tart freshness typical of Garnacha. Long, elegant finish with exceptional aging potential.
2020 Vintage
The year started with an unusually hot and dry winter, followed by a humid spring that posed challenges with fungal diseases. Favorable weather in July allowed the harvest to progress well, resulting in high-quality grapes.
